In 1946 the Family moved to Wandin Victoria where other family members and immigrants had settled due to its prime farming land and picking jobs. This enabled the Family to eventually purchase their own farm. Peas, beans and strawberries were the order of the day and as Lou had become a young man, he was tasked with selling the Family offering at the historical Queen Victoria Market. In 1952, Lou married Dina, and sought independence as they became greengrocers. With four young sons, Lou decided in 1967 to become a fruit agent, selling on behalf of neighbours and family, whereby the tradition continues today.
