The Fresh Berry Co. is operated by the Pettinella Family, who, along with their own produce, have a network of affiliated long standing premium Family Farmers. As a group, we support one another to deliver a premium product, using industry best practice. In the 1990’s we introduced integrated pest management. We now have ecological vegetation planted to support our beneficial bugs. Good bugs are also incorporated into the soil, together with bio stimulants. This system is gaining momentum for the treatment of foliage, resulting in the improvement of post-harvest fruit health. Grass cover crops are used for controlling soil erosion, enhancing nitrogen fixation via green manures and biological soil disinfection.
Compostable Punnets
OUR SUSTAINABLE FARMS PUNNET HAS A COMPOSTABLE BASE MADE FROM WOOD PULP AND RECYCLED CARDBOARD.
It can be composted directly or placed in your recycle bin. Before you compost, remove the lid as it is PET1 plastic and can be recycled but not composted. Our label should be removed from the base and binned, as we have not as yet found a product that can adhere well and be compostable. We are working on this and the lid to achieve 100% compost-ability. Watch this space as we progress!
